The Lord looks at the heart (July 8)

The Lord looks at the heart
"But the Lord said to Samuel, 'Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him.  The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.  Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."  1 Samuel 16:7.

Today as God looks at your heart let Him find three things:
1)  Humility. Recognize your need of God.  You need Him for your past - ask His forgiveness for your past failures and mistakes.  You need Him for the present - ask for His protection and provision today.  You need Him for the future - ask Him for daily guidance for your decisions, plans, and work.  He will lead you, guide you, and go ahead of you so that before you get there, He is already there.

2)  Gratefulness.  Be thankful for the small blessings in your life now such as family, friends, provision, home, and a new day.  Begin to think of the many things that you might have taken for granted or the people you might have taken for granted, and be thankful.

3)  Love.  Love God who loves you with His everlasting love.  Love others as it is a choice not a feeling.

As God looks at your heart, He sees His Son, Jesus Christ, who in memory of the cross is declaring your freedom and peace.  "So if the Son sets you free (declares you free), you will be free indeed." John 8:36.

Kingdom Declaration:
God looks upon me with His love and will grant me favor.
