How to deal with opposition

"Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (that is, the Son of Timaeus), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" 48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"  Mark 10:46-48   You might find that whenever you are ready to move to a new level in your life; start new ventures; shift out of mediocrity; opposition comes.  Sometimes the opposition comes from well-meaning friends, or family who does not understand your passion or have the faith to believe with you.   Here are six ways to deal with opposition: 1) Have faith in God.  God in, with, and for you makes all things possible. 2) Remain focused.  Keep your eye on the goal.  Keep your mind free to create.  Rule your world by what you think, say, do. 3) Fight the fight of faith.  Let your faith in God and in yourself fight all discouragements and opposition. If you get knocked out by negative comments or results, rest then get back in the game.  The blind man, "Shouted all the more" when people tried to stop him from his opportunity. 4) Use what you have.  It is always tempting to focus on what we don't have rather than being grateful for what we have.  We compare ourselves to others and get depressed, not knowing that others are comparing themselves to us, and getting depressed.  This blind man did not have sight but he had a voice.  He used his voice and got his sight.  Use what you have. 5) Prepare your elevator speech.  Jesus called him: "What do you want me to do for you?"  Jesus asked him.  The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see." Mark 10:51.
