Jesus died to save the world by Dr Pat Francis

"When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals - one on his right, the other on his left.  Jesus said, 'Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.'"  (Luke 23:33,34).

Jesus died in public disgrace and humiliation. His friend betrayed and sold him out for thirty pieces of silver. The people He fed turned against Him; the people He healed used their strength to throw rocks at Him; the people He taught threw hateful words at Him; the people He cared for cursed Him; but that wasn't the real battle.

Satan wanted to bind Him forever with cords of bitterness; puncture his heart with vile curses; and destroy the purpose of His birth. "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." (Matthew 1:20-21). While He took all the sins of the world upon His flesh, His heart had to remain pure and free from all bitterness to save the world.

His anger was directed toward the enemy and not to the people that He would die for.  His goal was to bind the enemy and not to be bound by him. With great power, He won the real battle on the cross when He said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." (Luke 23:34). By this powerful declaration of Jesus Christ, all people can be saved, forgiven, and blessed with His abundant life. Jesus loves the world.

Kingdom Declaration:
God demonstrated his love for me because while I was a sinner, Christ died for me.
