You are being appraised for promotion

"Mordecai the Jew was second in rank to King Xerxes, preeminent among the Jews, and held in high esteem by his many fellow Jews, because he worked for the good of his people and spoke up for the welfare of all the Jews."  (Esther 10:3).   Mordecai was described as preeminent among his peers and held in high esteem because of his good work ethics, his passion in helping others, his willingness to defend victims, and his defense of the cause of God.  His journey, however, was not easy.  He lived in Persia in a hostile and prejudicial environment with an arch enemy called Haman.  Mordecai was hated because of his values, his race, and his faith.  He and the Jews were persecuted and threatened with death and extinction, living in potential fear for their lives and families. Yet Mordecai was exalted, not because he left Persia, but in Persia.   Our job interview, performance appraisal, winner in the competitions of life, promotion in the Kingdom of God does not happen in one moment but in a lifetime. His life interview was seen in his emotional strength during persecution, his soft skills in dealing with people and circumstances, his care for others, and his willingness to help the poor. Like David, he was a great leader of the people with shepherd-like qualities, and God promoted him to be a leader in the powerful Persian Kingdom.   Our character, values, and actions are being appraised.
