God hears you when you pray

"The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.  The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."  (Psalm 34:17,18).

Jesus chose twelve men to be His disciples to be taught and trained by Him to develop and advance Christianity and His Church.  As we read of their lives we see their weaknesses, inadequacies, and personal failures. They made wrong judgments, gave into fear, and even forsook Jesus at a time when He needed them most.

This gives us hope as God does not always choose the perfect, work with the perfect, or love only the perfect person. His forgiveness is greater than our failures; His power is greater than our weakness; His grace is greater than our mistakes; His love is greater than our faults; and His peace is greater than our worries.  When we pray God hears and deliver us from all our troubles.

Ethel Barrymore wrote, "And do not forget that when life knocks you to your knees, which it always does and always will - well, that's the best position in which to pray, isn't it?  On your knees.  That's where I learned."   When you fail, pray.  If you fall, pray. When you hurt, pray. If you have a need, pray. "God will respond to the prayer of the destitute; he will not despise their plea." (Psalm 102:17).
