Jesus is the reason for Christmas

"Mary will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."  All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:  "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" - which means, "God with us."  (Matt. 1:21-23).   On the night before Christmas, Bethlehem was busy and bustling with traffic jam of animals and carts; Judeans coming in because the Roman Emperor, Caesar Augustus, had issued a decree that all citizens of Palestine must go to Bethlehem to register their families, properties, employments for census and taxation.    The streets were crowded; the restaurants were packed out; vendors were on the streets haggling and trading products in the Jerusalem bazaar; mangers were rented out for animals; inns were booming and all booked out and there was Joseph travelling with Mary on a donkey.  She was pregnant and about to give birth.    Joseph was anxiously looking for a room at the Inns but there was no room.  Maybe someone would volunteer their home but there was no one.  Maybe someone would stop and help them but it was Christmas Eve, everyone was too busy - lots to do on a crazy, busy, frustrating night before Christmas.  Nothing has changed in the twenty first century, for on the night before Christmas very few people are sensitive to the reason for the season.    Let us take time to experience the Christmas season, to join with the angels and sing "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests." (Luke 2:14). Let us join the wise men and "bring gifts to our King and worship Him." (Matt. 2:2). Let us be like the shepherds in the workplace who took time to seek him and find him despite their work demands.    Jesus is the reason for the season.  In this Christmas season we take time to thank God for sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from our sins.  We celebrate the birth of our Savior and King.      Kingdom Dynamics: Jesus Christ is my Savior, Lord, and King.   Read the Bible in One Year: Habakkuk 1-3; Revelation 15. @Dr Pat Francis @chayil$
