Triumphing Over Temptation(October 1)

Triumphing Over Temptation
"Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted." Hebrews 2:18.

Temptation can be described as enticement, seduction, and a lure that aims to keep us from a decisive path or the best decision.  There is the temptation to give up after discouragement; to give in to the fear of people; to accept compromise as a way of life; to choose willful blindness in the face of truth; and to give up just before the breakthrough.

Jesus showed us how to triumph over temptation:
1) He gathered a trusted team of faithful people to support Him in his critical time, "He took Peter, James and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled." Mark 14:33.
2) He prayed earnestly and honestly to His Heavenly Father, "Abba, Father, everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will." Mark 14:36. He admitted His struggles.
3) He prayed by faith saying, "Everything is possible for you".
4) He submitted to His Father's will and not His human emotions, "Yet not what I will, but what you will."
5) His prayer released angelic help, "An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him." Luke 22:43.
6) He rose from the place of prayer confident in His Father's control.
7) He subdued the devil, "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." James 4:7.

Now us. "With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies." Psalm 60:12.

Kingdom Declaration:
The victory belongs to Jesus and His victory belongs to me.
