God's grace is there for you(September 17)

God's grace is there for you
"You will live by the sword and you will serve your brother.  But when you grow restless, you will throw his yoke from off your neck."  Genesis 27:40.

Esau had made some great mistakes in his life.  In a moment of intense hunger he recklessly sold his birthright, blessing and honor to his manipulative brother, Jacob.  His privilege as the firstborn included: a double portion of inheritance from his father; official authority in the family over all major decisions; representative of the family for all grand social activities; and to be the priest and spiritual overseer of the family.

Esau suffered greatly because of his choices, but God was merciful.  In Esau's dilemma God gave him hope for the possibility to build a good life when he was ready for CHANGE and to activate his power of CHOICE, 'But when you grow restless, you will throw his yoke from off your neck'.  The word "yoke" is symbolic of bondage, frustration, punishment, guilt, limited movement and hopelessness.

Grace can be described as clemency, reprieve, forgiveness, and unmerited favor.  In Nehemiah's prayer to God for the restoration of Israel he said:  "But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love." Nehemiah 9:17.  To those who have made mistakes:  "The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.  The LORD protects the simple hearted; when I was in great need, he saved me." Psalm 116:5-6.

By grace you were saved and by grace you are being saved every day.  In every circumstance receive God's unfailing love for you and remember that His mercy towards you is new every morning.

Kingdom Declaration:
God's grace and mercy are new every morning.
