Day 8 - Relationship E-Series Talk to Yourself Hello, do you talk to yourself? If not, you need to start. All too often we allow the wrong people to influence our lives in a negative way because of their adverse words and actions. Our family, friends, co-workers or church family all have opinions about anything and everything and theseopinions shape our decisions and ultimately influence the way we live. First Corinthians 15:33-34 says it this way, “Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.” Awake to righteousness and do not sin, for some do not have the knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.” let’s face it, you don’t get to choose your family members or co-workers, however, .  The point is, there are people in your life that will get your goat or rub you the wrong way, however, as a believer it is your duty to walk in love and manage those relationships around you. We know this isn’t always easy. Your parents can be over critical, absent or just plain wrong. Your sibling doesn’t talk to you anymore and Uncle Bob… he’s just a bad seed. With ample opposition surrounding you, pessimism on the news, the critical comparison of social media, bombarding advertisements and damaging music, it is so crucial to counteract these negative influences with a .  First John 5:4 says, “For whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith.” Faith is what will prevent the negative emotions and influences from contaminating your life. How? You need to talk faith to yourself.  “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17), therefore, you must get in the Word, hear it, and then speak it out. This practice will renew your soul (mind, will and emotions) and will stir up your faith. As you speak faith, the love of God will be poured out and it will overflow in your relationships.
