Day 20 - Relationship E-Series It's in the Little Things

Day 20 - Relationship E-Series
It's in the Little Things
  Hello,

AppreciationSounds like a simple thing but it’s often overlooked.  Being appreciative or living in a state of gratitude keeps you focused on the goodness of God by taking pleasure in the ordinariness of life, which often goes unnoticed.
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:18, English Standard Version
Appreciation does not take things for granted, it acts. It says ‘thank you’ and ‘please’, even to the people you live with and to those closest to you. It gives compliments and can be expressed with a  touch whether it’s showing affection by holding hands or giving someone a hug or even a smile and a high-five.

Appreciation encourages someone by sending them a sweet note. It buys flowers for a loved one, prepares a meal or even serves breakfast in bed. It washes the car and cleans the floors or does the dishes.  All of these small selfless acts let the other person know they are special, valuable and that they are on your mind.

These daily appreciations go a long way even though it sometimes takes a diligent effort to keep doing them.

You may be thinking, I’ve tried to reach out with appreciative acts but I never get a response back.
Hello, your acts of love and appreciation are producing results even if you aren’t getting a reaction.  Proverbs 13:4 promises, “the soul of the diligent is richly supplied” and Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap,if we do not give up.”

As you continue to develop an attitude of gratitude and are diligent with appreciating others, you will reap the benefits of living a  life.
Hello, how can you appreciate the people are you closest to? Maybe it’s writing them a letter, sending a card or telling the person what you are grateful for.

Maybe it’s time to have an in-person dialogue.  But instead of complaining, criticizing, or telling the other person how it is, your sole interest is to ASK them how they are and get an understanding as to what they are thinking or how they are feeling.
Show empathy. Assume that your loved one has the same interest as you, which is to solve the stresses in your relationship. For this to happen it’s important for both people to understand and appreciate the other person’s point of view.

All of these little actions of showing appreciation can go a long way.  They can dramatically impact your , turning it from being an unhealthy burden
tobeing put back on the right track of recovery.
So, think about it. How can you appreciate your special loved one today in an actionable way?
