"But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay." (Matthew 28:5-6, NKJV)
We reflect on a tragic Friday over 2000 years ago when an innocent man called Jesus was brutally beaten, tortured, and crucified. Jesus passionately allowed it because of a greater purpose that includes you. The word passion means suffering, compelling, intense feeling or emotion, a pursuit to which one is devoted.
Passion describes the suffering and death of Jesus Christ on the cross with you in mind:
- His torture was for the torment of all people.
- His judgment was for every time we are unfairly judged.
- His betrayal was for our grace when we are betrayed.
- His desertion by His disciples was for when we need others and they are not there.
- He was despised for victims of racism, prejudice, poverty, slavery.
- His blood was for the sins of all people.
- His wounds were for all sickness and diseases.
- His punishment was for the peace of all people.
- His death was to destroy the power of death for all people.
- He showed you His great love for you by dying in your place. He gave you eternal life.
The cross without the resurrection would have meant victory for Satan but the cross was only a journey with a great purpose for the salvation of the world. Jesus died but He rose again as our example that there is victory beyond every battle you face and hope beyond all your fears. It was a Good Friday when Jesus in one blow on the cross, conquered death, Satan, and the grave. Hallelujah! Because He lives, we too shall live.
Kingdom Declaration:
I am saved, secure, and victorious in Christ Jesus.
