The Pursuit of Wisdom

"Turn your ear to wisdom and apply your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding; and if you look for it as silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God." Prov. 2:2-4.

John Templeton, founder of the Templeton Growth Fund, became a billionaire by seizing opportunities; understanding his season and maintaining a positive attitude in times of crisis. He bought the stock of good companies that for one reason or another other investors hated. In the 1930s he borrowed ten thousand dollars and bought the 104 stocks that traded for less than one dollar on the New York Stock Exchange. He became a billionaire. He studied and searched for understanding of the financial market and he later manipulated it to his advantage. What you study you can control.

Whatever you apply your heart to study and understand, you will eventually master and use as a tool for your purpose. As you seek wisdom God will become your Source. As you seek understanding God will become your Teacher. He will teach you through others, media, experiences, and even through your mistakes and failures.

If you ask God for wisdom He will give it to you: "King Solomon was greater in riches and wisdom than all the other kings of the earth." 2 Chron. 9:22. Daniel prayed: "I thank and praise you, O God of my fathers: You have given me wisdom and power." Daniel 2:23. King Solomon and Daniel received great wisdom because they asked God for wisdom and He granted them the desire of their hearts. God's wisdom is yours when you ask Him.

Kingdom Declaration:
I pray for the spirit of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to fill my life as I serve in the Kingdom of my God.
